The rate of kidnapping in Nigeria has continued to rise, with a total number of about 2944 people kidnapped between 2015 and 2021. With the North central being the most affected part with a total number of 942 people kidnapped, followed by North west with 405 people, North east 211, south west with a total of 169 people kidnapped, south south 140, with the lowest at 77 in south east. Nigeria is gradually becoming a kidnappers Dane as no where is safe anymore. Kidnappers now operate at will little or no hinderers from the security forces, as people are now being kidnapped from the comfort of their homes and only released after the payment of ransom, with those that were not able to pay being killed and sometimes even people that paid ended up being killed by the kidnappers. This money’s runs into millions of naira which in most cases a difficult for the family of the kidnapped victims to rise going by the current situation of the economy of the country.
