How Residents Of Kaduna Might Be Ignorantly Fuelling Banditry In The StateNews Hub CreatorJan 3, 2022 10:58 AMIn recent times, banditry has been bedeviling Kaduna state despite the tireless efforts of the security operatives and the government. From highways, villages to towns in the state, bandits seem to be having a field day – a day hardly passes by without a report of the nefarious activities of these evil men.Though residents have been hoping and praying for the incessant attacks in the state to end, however, they might be ignorantly fuelling it by doing the following things:Firstly, residents of Kaduna state are flouting some of the orders placed by Gov Nasiru El-Rufai to curtail insecurity. For instance, motorcycle operations are still ongoing despite the ban placed on them by the government. If you visit some suburban areas in Kaduna metropolis, you will see commercial bikes operating even at night. It should be noted that vigilantes might find it difficult to differentiate between bandits and residents, as these criminals usually use bikes to commit atrocities. For banditry to be defeated completely, residents would have to stop the use of motorcycles for the main time.Furthermore, residents are fond of blaming the government for every attack instead of joining hands with them to defeat the common enemy – some enemies of the state are now turning the wanton killing into political blackmail against the incumbent governor, which is unfair and perhaps giving bandits room to cause more havoc. Also, it Is common for victims to attack other innocent individuals who they feel belong to the same ethnic group as their assailants – this is barbaric and would have to stop with immediate effect. As the fight against banditry is garnering momentum, all hands must be on deck to defeat the enemy
